In 2004 we began our quest for non-poofy running shorts. Since its original debut, the Rogas have evolved with lighter fabric, improved waistband, additional pockets, lengths, and prints, but our pursuit to make the best pair of running shorts for women remains unchanged.

Best shorts ever

I recently picked up a couple new pairs on sale and I'm happy to say they haven't changed since my last purchase several years ago. My older pairs have also held up remarkably well. They're faded and the fabric has lost a little stretch, but none have holes, and the waistbands are all still secure.
For reference: 5'11" 135 size 4. 4" inseam, solid colors only (patterned fabric is stiffer and chafes)

Simply the best

I've been running in the Roga shorts for years. I've owned other shorts from various brands (Patagonia, Nike, etc) but the Rogas are quite simply the best. I have worn Rogas for every distance from 5k to 50 milers. There is ample storage space in the back zippered pocket, material that doesn't ride up my thighs, a liner that actually fits my butt like underwear instead of crawling up my a$$ like it thinks it's a thong, and so many great colors and patterns (the Firenze is my absolute favorite, I have it in two sizes so that I have a pair ready to go no matter what size my body is being at that particular time of year). There are two things that I will say are less than perfect. The first is that the interior drawstring hurts my abdomen when I have it tied in a knot. I am miraculously blessed with very low body fat on my stomach (it's all in my hips and thighs) and I think that makes the problem worse. But if you are wearing the proper size shorts, you shouldn't need the drawcord unless you are very small (the size 2s did not fit when I was a size 0. Obviously.) The second thing is that the material does get very wet. I am a HEAVY sweater so this could be a non-issue for a lot of people, and it doesn't particularly bother me, but some people might not like it, so I thought I should mention it. The sweat absorption doesn't change the way the shorts feel while I'm running, the material doesn't really get clingy like you'd think it would. It's just something I notice when I take them off. I don't think either of these issues is worth knocking stars off, because for me personally the shorts fit without needing the drawstring and like I said, the shorts not staying totally dry when I'm sweating so profusely isn't bothersome.
