Update June 24, 2014 (see group run schedule below)

On June 25th, the USATF Outdoor Championships begin in Sacramento, CA at Hornet Stadium. Oiselle has a bunch o great birds competing and spectating.

This year is technically an “off year” i.e. no World Championship team to make…which means athletes may be trying out a different event. Top performances still garner prize money and status, so expect all-out efforts. Many athletes are gearing up for a European season (a block in July and August). Every national meet has high drama and breakout performances…my birthday falls during the Olympic Trials or Nationals every year so I count those performances as my birthday present. I can’t wait to see what the birds give me this year!

I’ve highlighted a few favorite races and athletes to watch below, along with our O athletes of course, but check USATF Outdoor Championships event schedule and status of entries for start lists. Although the shot put is contested Wednesday, June 25th, the meet starts in earnest on Thursday.
